House
Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed. If the door remains closed, a fully loaded freezer can keep foods frozen for two days.
If the temperature in the refrigerator is 40 degrees or higher, then you should dispose of the food.
Keep doors, windows and draperies closed to retain heat in your home.
Block drafts at doors/windows
Close off unused rooms
Place extra blankets in the warm room
Plan to check on loved ones and neighbors to make sure they are staying warm. This is especially important for older adults and babies.
Avoid travel if you can.
Wear layers of loose clothing, a coat, hat, mittens and water-resistant boots. Use a scarf to cover your face and mouth.
Gather food, water and medicine before a winter storm. Stores may be closed, and it may be unsafe to travel.
You may lose access to drinking water. Set aside at least 1 gallon of drinking water per person per day.
If possible, keep your thermostat set to at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. For high-risk pipes, let your faucets drip; moving water reduces the risk of a burst
Keep cabinet doors open under sinks on outside walls
Clear snow from the ends of the gutter downspouts so that once the snow does begin to melt, the water can keep moving. And take notice of any dangling icicles; they’re an indication your gutters are clogged and need to be cleaned.
Keep Non-perishable food enough for at least 2 weeks.

Make sure the tires on your car have adequate tread and air pressure. Replace any worn tires and fill low tires with air to the proper pressure recommended for your car (typically between 30-35 psi).
Keep the gas tank near full to help avoid ice in the tank and fuel lines.
